New Jersey has now become the fourth state in the nation to believe that limiting people to one handgun purchase a month will curb gun crimes. Let’s think about this logically. Most gun crimes are committed by criminals (drug dealers in particular).
Why.. WHY would someone willing to break drug laws, homicide laws etc. suddenly go wait… I better not break that new gun law. Oh wait, because the gun law will make it harder to get guns right? Just like drug laws prevent dealers from getting their hands on drugs? Give me a break.
Limiting people to one gun a month only prevents legitimate purchasers from buying consecutive serial number guns. Yes, many “gun people” collect guns. Yes, consecutive serial numbers are worth A LOT more. Or shooting sports sometimes require the purchasing of multiple firearms. Cowboy action shooting, for example, requires the purchase of multiple guns.
If you’re not a gun person you may not understand this but I thought the idea behind U.S. freedoms rested in the fact that people have the right to do things even if others don’t understand or necessarily agree so long as THEY are not hurting anyone.
What is truly sad is that nobody is really surprised anymore when politicians pass laws with no basis in common sense and no indications of any thought what-so-ever being applied prior to their passing.
